Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. PAMUK, ORHAN Yeni hayat. Istanbul: Iletisim Yayinlari, 1994. First edition, 8vo., 280 p. Paperback. Kitabin etkisiyle asik oluyor, universite ogrenciliginden uzaklasiyor, Istanbul'dan ayriliyor, bitip tukenmeyen otobus yolculuklarina cikiyor, tasra sehirlerine dogru savruluyor. Onunla birlikte ve ayni hizla suruklenen okuyucu, kahramanin okudugu kitabi degil, basindan gecenleri izleyerek bize ozgu bir huznun ve siddetin ta kalbinde buluyor kendini. Siyah beyaz televizyonlu kahvelere, video seyredilen otobuslere, trafik kazalarina, siyasi kumpas ve cinayetlere, bayi orgutlerine, paranoyakca kuramlara, saat kadar dakik muhbirlere, kaybolan eski esyalarin siirine ve tasranin ofkesine uzanan bu harikulade yolculuk, Orhan Pamuk'un, cagdas dunya romaninin en ozgun yaraticilarindan biri oldugunu bir kere daha kanitliyor. Bir yandan Hayat'in, Essiz Anlar'in, Olum'un, Yazi'nin, Kaza'nin sirlarina, bir yandan da cocuklugun resimli romanlarina, bir belirip bir kaybolan arzu melegine ve Dante'nin, Rilke'nin siirlerine acilan benzersiz bir roman. Hayatla okumanin kesistigi alanda seyreden ve her sayfada katman katman genisleyen sarsici bir yol hikayesi.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. The first UK Edition (first printing), utilizing the same translation as the US edition and yet considerably more uncommon. 8vo. 296pp. Blue boards lettered in cream at the spine. Spine ends a little rubbed with two or three tiny touches of spotting to the top edge and a light entirely superficial crease to the half-title. Printed on very slightly substandard paperstock which is now just a fraction tanned, yet still a very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper with a little corresponding wear to the spine panel ends, a touch of wear to one or two corner tips, two tiny tears, and two creases to the front flap. The Nobel Laureate's fifth novel (the third to be translated into English), reportedly the fastest selling book in Turkish history at the time of publication.
