Crisp, clean pages except for an ink stamp and a prior owner's name on the front free endpaper of each volume, as well as gentle dust staining along the top edges of the page blocks; both bindings are square and tight, full cloth covers only modestly rubbed at the spine ends, otherwise excellent. The dust jacket on the first volume has a surface abrasion at the lower front and red drip spotting along the left front; both jackets show some toning and pale brown spotting along the spines with some creasing and rubbing at spine ends and corners, otherwise sound. 420pp. combined, with index and charts.
