First Edition. Signed by the author, Philip Riley on the title page. Fine fresh unread copy in a fine bright dust jacket. Printed in one small printing, the book is out of print. London After Midnight is the most famous of all Òlost filmsÓ - a film of which no copy is known to have survived. It has the distinction of being the first American vampire film and starred the great Lon Chaney Senior (The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc.) and was directed by the acclaimed horror director Tod Browning. The author has carefully reconstructed the film using the original shooting and cutting continuity scripts and is illustrated shot for shot using the dozens of still photographs made during the production. A detailed history of the film is included. This book was the inspiration for the recent recreation of the film with the reconstruction film of London After Midnight produced by Turner Classic Movies using the stills and the script.
