Bookmark. Condition: Very good. Presumed First Issuance thus. Format is approximately 6.5 inches by 2.5 inches. Picture of the front cover of There's No Place Like Here on the front of the bookmark; on the back of the bookmark there are full-color pictures of three other books by Cecelia Ahern. Cecelia Ahern (born 30 September 1981) is an Irish novelist known for her works like PS, I Love You,There's No Place Like Here, Where Rainbows End and If You Could See Me Now. Born in Dublin, Ahern is now published in nearly fifty countries, and has sold over 25 million copies of her novels worldwide. Two of her books have been adapted as major motion films. She and her books have won numerous awards, including the Irish Book Award for Popular Fiction for The Year I Met You. She has published several novels and contributed a number of short stories to various anthologies. Ahern also created and produced the ABC comedy Samantha Who? starring Christina Applegate. A Place Called Here is Irish writer Cecelia Ahern's fourth novel. The book was entitled "There's No Place Like Here" in the United States. Sandy Shortt has been obsessed with finding things which have been lost, since her childhood rival Jenny-May Butler went missing. Having worked for the Garda, the police force of Ireland, she left her job to start an agency which looks for missing people. A man named Jack Ruttle asks Sandy for help looking for his younger brother Donal, who went missing the year before. She agrees, never expecting to become missing herself as she discovers the world where everything which has ever been lost goes to, a place called Here. Abookmarkis a thin marker, commonly made ofcard, leather, orfabric, used to keep a reader's place in abookand to enable them to easily return to it. According to new results of the research done on the history of bookmarks, there are indications that bookmarks have accompanied codices since their first emergence in the 1st century AD. The earliest existing bookmark dates from the 6th century AD and it is made of ornamented leather lined with vellum on the back and was attached with a leather strap to the cover of a Coptic codex. Bookmarks were used throughout the medieval period, consisting usually of a small parchment strip attached to the edge offolio(or a piece of cord attached to headband). The first detached, and therefore collectible, bookmarkers began to appear in the 1850s. One of the first references to these is found in Mary Russell Mitford'sRecollections of a Literary Life(1852. Historical bookmarks can be very valuable, and are sometimes collected along with other paperephemera. By the 1860s, attractive machine-woven markers were being manufactured. One of the earliest was produced by J.&J. Cash to mark thedeathofAlbert, Prince Consort, in 1861. Thomas Stevens of Coventry soon became preeminent in the field and claimed to have nine hundred different designs. Woven silk bookmarks were very appreciated gifts in theVictorian Eraand Stevens seemed to make one for every occasion and celebration. By the 1880s the production of woven silk markers was declining, and printed markers made of stiff paper or cardboard began to appear in significant numbers. This development paralleled the wider availability of books themselves, and the range of available bookmarkers soon expanded dramatically. Modern bookmarks are available in a huge variety of materials in a multitude of designs and styles. Many are made of cardboard or heavy paper, but they are also constructed of paper, ribbon, fabric, felt, steel, wire, tin, beads, wood, plastic, vinyl, silver, gold, and other precious metals, some decorated with gemstones.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 288 pages. Published in 1997. The author's seventh novel. One of Robert Crais' finest achievements. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Robert Crais' "Indigo Slam: An Elvis Cole Novel". Indefatigable in its energy and imagination. "Three years ago, a Seattle family ran for their lives in a hail of bullets. Hired by three kids to find their missing father, Elvis now must pick up the cold pieces of a drama that began that night. What he finds is a sordid tale of high crimes and illicit drugs. As clues to a man's secret life emerge from the shadows, Elvis knows he's not just up against ruthless mobsters and some very angry Feds. He's facing a storm of desperation and conspiracy bearing down on three children whose only crime was their survival" (Publisher's blurb). His previous career as the screenwriter for the long-running television series, "Hill Street Blues" and "L. A. Law", has served Robert Crais well in his second career as a serious mystery/thriller writer. Regarded by his admirers as his finest achievement thus far. An absolute "must-have" title for Robert Crais collectors. This copy is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black pen on the title page by Robert Crais. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 312 pages. Published in 2007. The author's debut memoir. Now considered a contemporary classic. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. Presents Lucinda Franks' "My Father's Secret War: A Memoir". Published to enormous critical acclaim by such figures as Elie Wiesel, Joyce Carol Oates, Susan Cheever, and Patricia Bosworth, great memoir-writers all. Lucinda Franks is an award-winning writer who is married to Robert Morgenthau, the New York County District Attorney. When her father was diagnosed with and realized that he was slipping into incurable dementia, he decided to tell his daughter everything about the part of his life he had kept hidden from everyone, especially his own family. Lucinda Franks knew little about her father's activities during the Second World War so she never suspected his simply stunning revelation: He was a spy who risked his life behind enemy lines, in the guise of an utterly convincing SS Officer, who was nevertheless vulnerable and could have been caught if he ever let his guard down even once. Hence his lifelong secretiveness. As an SS Officer, he was among the very first Americans to see the Nazi concentration camps, a horrifying discovery that he could not prevent, which made him bitter about himself and humanity for the rest of his life. His bitterness essentially destroyed his relations with his family, an estrangement that was belatedly healed by his heartbreaking story, revealed just before they lost him again, this time for good, to madness. A journalist by profession, Lucinda Franks presents military intelligence records and documentation that verify his profoundly personal account but could never render justice to the suffering he endured all his life. The result is a book that is "worthy of Graham Greene" (Joyce Carol Oates). "This is the real story of The Greatest Generation, adding immeasurably to our understanding of who our fathers were and what they survived. It should be read by everyone who cares about history, not the history of textbooks, but the history of what really happened to the men who lived it" (Susan Cheever). An absolute "must-have" title for Lucinda Franks collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed in black ink-pen on the title page by Lucinda Franks. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary classic.
