Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This is "Lichfield Cathedral" by John E. W. Wallis, late Canon Residentiary and Chancellor of Lichfield Cathedral. The text was revised and enlarged by Olwen Hedley in 1970. This copy was published by Pitkin Pictorials, Ltd. in its "Pride of Britain" Series in 1975. For years Pitkin Pictorials, Ltd. published excellent series of illustrated guide books. Alas, the company seems to have closed, and so these lovely books (issued in paperback booklet format) are now all out of print. This particular copy is 24 pages in length, with an informative text, and a superb array of fine color, as well as black-and-white, halftone photographs; there is one excellent ground plan on the verso of the front cover. The front cover has a color photo of the front facade of the Cathedral, while the rear cover presents a view of the church from the south. While certainly not exhaustive in scope, this slim book is a very good introduction to the subject, giving a solid base for further reading and exploration. ****************************************** SERIES : Pride of Britain / TITLE : Lichfield Cathedral / AUTHORS : John E.
