Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: As New. Tim Truman, Nina Paley, Frank Gresham, Wayno, Dan Steffan, Rand Holmes, Dan Burr, Fred Carlson, Mary Fleener, Pat Redding (illustrator). 1st Edition. A serious deadhead's dream! A beautiful hardcover collection of Grateful Dead Comix, published in 1992 by Kitchen Sink Press (longtime underground comix publishers of R. Crumb and countless other alternative cartoonists). This hardcover book features a beautiful silver embossed deadhead skull (with a pen and brush forming the crossbones) in the center of the cover. This "bas relief" art was created by Peter (Superman, Batman) Poplaski. The contents (all in full color) include comix based on Grateful Dead songs, behind-the-scenes accounts about the band, such as "The Lille Story" and artist's personal accounts. The comix are drawn by top artists like Tim Truman, Rand (Harold Hedd) Holmes, Terry (Cud) LaBan, Nina Paley, Wayno (Beer Nuts), Dan (Dope Comix) Steffan, Dean (Death Rattle) Armstrong, Reed Waller & Kate Worley (Omaha), Dan (Kings in Disguise) Burr, Mary (Twisted Sisters) Fleener and several others. Among the classic songs adapted are "Truckin'," "Casey Jones," Tennessee Jed," "Sugaree," "One More Saturday Night," "Jack Straw," "Mexicali Blues" and many others. Jerry Garcia also wrote the introduction, talking about how much he loved comic books (the first expensive investment he made when the band first became successful was a complete set of 1950's E.C. comics.) You may have or have seen a trade paperback edition of this which Kitchen Sink licensed to Hyperion Books, but it cannot compare to this hardcover edition. Hardcover is bagged and will be carefully / securely packaged then shipped via USPS Priority Mail to ensure that it arrives to you perfectly and quickly. Collectible Entertainment note: Hardcover is in Very Fine + condition. Beautiful! Please See Scans!! A must have for any serious Grateful Dead and/or Jerry Garcia collector / enthusiast. A fun & entertaining read. Highly Recommended.

First Edition Signed
First edition of the classic account of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters during their bus trip across America in the late 1960's. Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Tom Wolfe with his characteristic signature on the title page. Additionally signed on the front free endpaper by Merry Prankster Ken Kesey and legendary bassist Phil Lesh on the title page. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with just a touch of shelfwear. Jacket design by Milton Glaser. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test was published by Farrar Straus Giroux in 1968 and is considered ideal insight into the hippie movement. The New York Times said the novel is not simply the best book on the hippies, it is the essential book . . . the pushing, ballooning heart of the matter . . . Vibrating dazzle!" Indeed, "[a]mong journalists, Wolfe is a genuine poet; what makes him so good is his ability to get inside, to not merely describe (although he is a superb reporter), but to get under the skin of a phenomenon and transmit its metabolic rhythm" (Newsweek). The journalist himself is considered by Terry Southern "a groove and a gas. Everyone should send him money and other fine things. Hats off to Tom Wolfe!".
