Robert Seymour (1798-1836) was an illustrator perhaps best remembered for his illustrations for the novels of Dickens, especially 'The Pickwick Papers'. This volume contains eighty-six of his entertaining caricatures accompanied by humorous verses and stories fleshing out the scene.

With the leather bookplate of Doris Louise Benz (1907-84). The Benz collection, which included English literature, manuscripts and drawings, was sold at Christie's in 1984. Slight age-toning to top edge of boards and spine, a touch of rubbing to lower tips; overall, a very handsome, solid copy.
