The powerful quake registering 7.0 on the Richter scale was centered ten miles south of the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

About the Author:
Gary Miller was raised in an Anabaptist community in California and lives with his wife Patty and family in the Pacific Northwest. He worked in construction most of his life but now focuses his time and energy on writing and helping find sustainable solutions for the poor. His interest in working with the needy in Third World countries led him to start an experimental microloan program (S.A.L.T. Microfinance Solutions) in Haiti in an effort to provide aid without creating dependency.

Immediately following the powerful earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, Christian Aid Ministries received many inquiries about this tragic event and its effects. Knowing Gary's interest and experience in Haiti, CAM asked him to travel to Haiti a few days after the earthquake to gather photos and write this book, providing a window into the lives of our suffering neighbors. He spent most of his time in Port-au-Prince where the destruction was the worst, investigating the needs and listening to many tragic and heartrending accounts.

You will also want to read Gary's recently released book, Kingdom-Focused Finances for the Family, to capture his passion for building God's kingdom with God-given resources.
