They've been around since humans figured out how to squeeze fruit, but lately juices have taken center stage on the beverage scene. With doctors recommending at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day, a delicious - and certainly the easiest - way to consume your quota is to drink fresh juices. Thanks to juicers, citrus presses, and blenders, we can make our own drinks out of what is ripe, cheap, and plentiful in the markets. In this zesty little book, best-selling food writer Elsa Petersen-Scheperlern has created 30 recipes for great juices and tonics. Delectable recipes include Carrot and Ginger Crush (a good source of vitamin A), Golden Mexican Salsa Crush (plenty of vitamin C), and Cardamom Green Tea (cardamom and ginger help with nausea, indigestion, coughs, and colds; green tea contains powerful antioxidants.) These delicious recipes, captured in top food photographer William Lingwood's vibrant photographs, will ensure that healthy living goes hand in hand with great flavor.
