This beautifully illustrated multicultural children's book tells a story about China's most famous archeological site—the terracotta soldiers of Xi'an.
When a special exhibition of terracotta warriors comes to town, Ming and his mother go to see them at the museum. To remember this exciting event, Ming's mother buys him a little figurine of a General to keep in his room at home. But at midnight, Ming wakes up and finds the General figurine is alive and he has a copper carriage ready to take Ming to his home in Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Tomb in Xi'an, China. In this mysterious underground world over 2,000 years old, Ming meets the General's army of terracotta warriors.

About the Author:
Li Jian graduated from Hebei Normal University in 2001, majoring in Chinese Painting. Mr. Li used to be a middle school art teacher, an editor for kid's books, and a partner in an illustration studio. Currently, Mr. Li owns his own illustration studio focusing on illustrations for children's fairy tales. He has also published The Water Dragon, The Little Monkey King's Journey, and The Snake Goddess Colors the World.

Gr 1-3-When Ming's mother takes him to a museum to see the Terracotta Army of Qin Shihuang, she buys him a figurine as a souvenir. That night, he dreams that the General comes to life and takes him to see the rest of the army. Ming learns more about the masouleum and the soldiers before returning safely to his bed just in time to wake up. This gentle adventure serves as an introduction to China's Terracotta Army, with Ming meeting several different types of soldiers who tell him about themselves. Captions for the watercolor illustrations give even more information for curious readers.
