Gr 4-6-Clearly aimed at young report writers, these narrowly based outlines vary in their focus: Hamilton concentrates on the components of the Department of Justice, giving Janet Reno only seven pages, while Italia presents the personality and political career of Al Gore. While their brevity means that depth is at the sound-bite level, and their information value will depreciate rapidly, they do present some unique information (e.g., the effect of military-base closings on each state), and succinctly identify the issues facing these cabinet officers. More general information on the officers of the president's cabinet is well presented in Nancy Winslow Parker's The President's Cabinet and How It Grew (HarperCollins, 1991), which is listed in the bibliographies of these books.-Jonathan Betz-Zall, Sno-Isle Regional Library System, Edmonds, WA
