A Review by Larry Ukali Johnson-Redd
November 17, 2010
At first I jumped around the poetry, spoken word and prose at first. Although I met Loretta several years ago, I decided to read the whole book after I read the journal entries (Pages 97 to 126).
Once I read the journal entries, I felt I know Loretta more than just another poet, author, spoken word artist and African-American queen of multiple ethnicities. In the journal lie Loretta's love, soul, humanity, womanhood, faith, and sisterhood.
In the journal you will also find where her search for her father's love from Haiti to Cuba to Boston to Michigan to Sacramento ends up. If you area man and have a lost daughter like Loretta, find her and fight for the right to see her like Terry Moore another Sacramento poet/spokenword artist did in the way he found Tyra- his daughter! Like a good man he fought legally for a share of custody of his daughter.
I then read each and every poem, prose and. spokenword piece in the book. When you read this book read A Love Supreme, Love Pains, Brown Shag Carpet, Mother Sonia, Voices and all of the others. Every man disconnected with a daughter should read this book and so should every one else!

Book Description Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Loretta (La-Rue') Duncan-Fowler strips off fears and uncertainties as she walks back to a darkened past to bring inspiration to readers. In Search of a Father's Love, her new book released through Xlibris, offers a collection of poems, prose, and short stories that all chronicles one woman's journey to finding real happiness. Childhood was anything but normal for the author. At the age of five, she found herself begging for her father not to abandon her. The incident only marked the beginning of the many trials she had to face. Sexual molestation, pregnancy, a miscarriage, and incestuous relationships, she finally opened her heart to find the sanctuary that she deserved. In her unending search for her father through abusive husbands and a string of bad relationships, she realizes that the one salvation that she truly needed had always been inside her, within her heart. Through poignantly crafted poems and prose, coupled with Bible verses, La-Rue' relives in this edifying book how she stepped out from the darkness and moved on to the light and found the Faith to do more than survive, she thrives!.
