About the Author:
is an assistant professor of nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She received her M.Ed. degree from Dublin University's Trinity College and both her MSN and PhD from Case Western Reserve University. She has over twenty years' experience in nursing education in Ireland and the United States, having taught across a variety of nursing programs, as well as experience in educational administration. She has completed studies in the Web-Based Genetics Institute of the Genetics Program for Nursing at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and developed strategies for integrating genetics into the curriculum. Currently, her research focus is in genetics and ethics related to genetic research. She is a faculty associate of the Center for Genetic Research Ethics and Law (CGREAL) at Case Western Reserve, an interdisciplinary Center for Excellence in Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications Research funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Quinn Griffin has a degree in molecular genetics from Georgetown University and is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International. 9
