From School Library Journal:
YA-- Newspaper editorials on current multicultural topics are reprinted here. The book is divided into four parts: racism in America, Black America and civil rights, minorities in America, and minority and multicultural education in America. Each section contains a short overview, along with editorials pertaining to various aspects of that particular topic. Among the subjects examined are hate crimes against homosexuals, the rap-music debate concerning ``2 Live Crew,'' the status of busing, and of affirmative action. The preface states that women are included as a minority; however, when searching topics in the index, specifically National Organization of Women, sex, family issues, and women, the only item found concerns the Anita Hill charges against Clarence Thomas. So, while technically women are included, one article does not seem adequate representation. The time span covers the years from 1987-1992, with the majority of the articles written in 1992. The selections range in length from one-fourth to one-half of a page.
