About the Author:
Opal Dunn is a specialist in language development and early childhood education. She works as a consultant to the Council of Europe on children's bilingual education, and is the author of numerous books for children, as well as a Berlitz guide for parents who are teaching their children a foreign language. Ms. Dunn lives in London, England. Sally Anne Lambert has illustrated several books for children. She makes her home in Cumbria, England.

The poems are arranged into three sections, from the very simple for newborns to the more complex for children 12 to 24 months to those for 2 or 3-year-olds. Filled with warm colors and appealing details, Lambert's watercolor illustrations pleasantly support the verses with a variety of closely focused vignettes and double-page spreads. The softly rounded people are of different ethnicities and both dads and moms interact with the babies. Schools with a preschool program may find this title helpful but public libraries will make the best use of it.
