Wonders of the World - Grand Canyon - Hardcover

Grade 4-6-Kallen describes the spectacular vista created by the canyon and the development of this landscape made by the Colorado River, shifting plates, and molten lava. He includes the exploration by John Wesley Powell, the plants and animals that reside within the canyon, and drastic contrasts in climate due to elevation variations. A few maps and full-color photos and reproductions appear throughout, though some of the pictures are not sharp or distinct and have the look of faded old photos. Although the material is well organized and well written, the visual presentation does not quite live up to the quality of the text.
