From School Library Journal:
Grade 6 Up-This collection of short stories offers mysteries that have an added splash of the supernatural, from vampires and witches to water puddles that lead to another world. The selections are a trifle uneven in quality, but all of them have distinct voices and clear plots. Some ("Old Flame," "Undertaker's Wedding," and "Sitter") do a better job of blending fantastic elements with mystery than others. The inclusion of "The Black Cat" and "The Witch, the Child, and the U.P.S. Fellow" is questionable since both elements seem to be lacking in them. Others ("A Tale Told at Dusk," "I Can't Help Saying Goodbye," and "The Three D's") are delightfully short and chilly. This volume should be popular with readers who are tired of the "Fear Street" series (Archway), but still want something quick and spooky.
