The intrepid Rosy Cole takes on New York – with hilarious results!

Rosy Cole, that irrepressible New Yorker, is back, carried away as usual by her own enthusiasms. This time Rosy’s small-town cousin, Duncan, is making his first trip to New York, and Rosy is determined to show him the “glamour, glitz, and glory” that make her city shine. When Duncan arrives, he’s miserable – airsick, homesick, and full of anxieties about crowded places and strange foods. Still, Rosy is confident that once Duncan experiences Day One of her Fabulous Big Rosy Tour, with its outings to famous Only in New York landmark sites such as the Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller Center, everything will be fine. But as Rosy’s carefully made plans teeter from one comical mishap to the next, it’s Duncan, with his own reactions to New York, who reminds Rosy what really makes her hometown special: the spirit, diversity, and individuality of New Yorkers themselves.

Packed with child appeal and humor in both text and art, this story of Rosy’s knack for getting into trouble is bound to delight old fans and new readers.

About the Author:
Sheila Greenwald is a native New Yorker whose many books include nine about Rosy Cole. She lives in New York City.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 3-6-Rosy is asked to show her visiting cousin Duncan her wonderful city. She rises to the occasion and plans the "Fabulous Big Rosy Tour," which includes the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, a Circle Line cruise, and the Empire State Building. Rosy has props, maps, pictures, and costumes, and her enthusiasm is at a fever pitch. When shy Duncan arrives with his own first-aid kit and worries about germs, traffic, and spicy food, Rosy is disappointed beyond words. Duncan does share his true passion with her, his harmonica and his excitement about music, but she is single-minded in her desire to show him what she wants to show him. Each day is filled with unplanned adventures that introduce the boy to another side of New York City-the fruit-and-vegetable stands, the delis, the subway station musicians, the lake at Central Park, pretzels. In fact, Duncan discovers a whole wonderful world that his guide had not planned on. Rosy's constant frustration is comically juxtaposed with the meaningful experiences that Duncan seems to find on his own. The story is full of humor and adventure, and is a great travelogue of the Big Apple. Playful pen-and-ink drawings and maps of both Rosy's planned tour and Duncan's Discoveries are truly delightful and add to the telling of this fun, easy chapter book.
