Rabbit's Wish - Hardcover

PAUL STEWART studied English at Lancaster University and then went on to do an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. He is a highly regarded author of books for young readers and has had over fifty titles published. He lives in Brighton with his wife and children.

Ages 4-6. Best friends Rabbit and Hedgehog have a problem: Hedgehog is nocturnal. Rabbit longs to spend a whole day with his friend. He gets his wish when heavy rain falls, flooding both animals' homes. The friends then pass the time and amuse each other until the rainwater recedes. "It was my fault that this happened," admits Rabbit. "I wished you could stay up all day with me . . . . And my wish came true." "I'm glad that it did," replies Hedgehog, who goes on to suggest that sometime Rabbit stay up all night. The soft, expressive watercolor illustrations are a good match for this story about friendship (along the lines of Frog and Toad books), which will work well as a read-aloud or for a lap-sit session.
